What is Strong Customer Authentication (SCA)?
Last updated 30 August 2024

Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) is a new European regulatory requirement that is part of the Second Payment Services Directive (PDS2). The key goals of SCA are to reduce fraud and make online payments more secure by introducing two-factor authentication on electronic payments.

What does this mean for me?

After checkout, your bank may require you to provide additional information to complete a payment (e.g. a one-time code sent to your phone or fingerprint authentication through their mobile banking app). Be sure to complete any extra steps; your order will not begin processing until payment has been received.
