Poster sizes & dimensions: The ultimate guide to standard poster sizes

Reading time: 2 minutes

When it comes to posters, there’s a myriad of dimensions and sizes to choose from depending on your specific needs. We’ve put together this handy poster size guide to help you understand the poster sizes and dimensions commonly used.

Standard poster sizes in Europe

The A and B sizes are two different series of paper sizes that are based on the international ISO 216 standard. Both of them are commonly used for posters. The B sizes are slightly larger than their corresponding A sizes and are designed to provide a wider range of options between the A sizes. For example, B4 paper measures 250 x 353 mm, which is slightly larger than A4. This allows more flexibility in scaling and enlarging documents, while maintaining the same aspect ratio.
Did you know? When you halve the dimensions of A0 you get A1. Halving the dimensions of A1 gives you A2, and so on. Same goes for the B sizes.

Large format poster sizes

B0 and A0 and are the largest standard sizes, suitable for large-scale promotional posters or displays. B1 and A1 sizes are commonly used for advertising posters, event promotions, or informational displays.

  • B0: 100 x 1414 mm
  • A0: 841 x 1189 mm
  • B1: 707 x 1000 mm
  • A1: 594 x 841 mm

Small format poster sizes

B2 and A2 sizes is smaller and often used for medium-sized posters, such as movie posters or decorative prints. A3 size is commonly used for smaller posters, such as event announcements, classroom displays, or artwork prints. A4 is the standard paper size and is often used for smaller posters, flyers, or informational materials.

  • B2: 500 x 707 mm
  • A2: 420 x 594 mm
  • A3: 297 x 420 mm
  • A4: 210 x 297 mm

Poster sizes and dimensions for prints

In addition to the A and B series, there are several other common poster dimensions used in Europe. Here are a few examples:

  • 70 x 100 cm: This size is often used for movie posters and promotional materials.
  • 50 x 70 cm: This size is commonly used for decorative posters, art prints, and smaller promotional materials.
  • 30 x 40 cm: This smaller size is often used for posters, prints, and displays in smaller spaces.

Note: Specific sizes can vary depending on the country, printing standards and individual preferences. In some cases you’ll need custom size poster printing for your specific requirement.
