Awful quality

14 Sept 2025 | Louise M. | Verified Buyer
I was really disappointed with the quality of the A5 booklet I had printed. The images didn't print well around the edges, they had a strange mirrored effect around the borders. The booklet itself was also stapled wonky, in that on the inside you could see part of the first page on the back page. Shame as I cannot use this print and has been a waste of money.
Response from Vistaprint Customer Care Team:
We apologize that the A5 booklet you received did not meet your expectations. We understand how disappointing it must be to have images print poorly and see issues with the stapling, making the booklet unusable. To help us review this further and find a resolution, please reply to this email with a photo of the booklet showing the issues. If your request is urgent, and you need an immediate solution, please reach out to our Customer Support team via https://www.vistaprint.co.uk/customer-care/help-centre/

Frequently asked questions

Yes — for a successful print, we recommend following these design tips and upload specifications.

Format: Your file needs to be in PDF format — without password protection.

Layout: Your file should include single pages, each arranged in the correct reading order. Make sure your file includes all of your pages — including four cover pages.

Blank Pages: If you want blank inside cover pages, make sure you include blank pages within your PDF file.

Colours: Stapled booklets are printed in CMYK. Images provided in RGB or PANTONE colours will be converted.

Resolution: 300 dpi (dots per inch) is the required resolution for stapled booklets. Lower resolutions may affect the printing quality.

Bleeds: For an accurate print, include a 3 mm bleed on every side of every page. If you encounter file upload issues, double-check your bleed — it may exceed the accepted ±0.25 threshold.

Margins: Keep all text at least 1 cm from the margins. Anything closer may be too close to the edge (or the binding) to easily read.

Staple binding is a style that uses 2 metal staples to turn individual pieces of paper into a cohesive booklet. Since the staples are placed down the centre of the papers, each piece of paper becomes 4 booklet pages.

Stapled booklets are a popular choice for an assortment of projects or business needs — we particularly recommend them for price lists, product catalogues, event programmes, brochures, pamphlets and magazines. They may also work well for restaurants or cafes in need of longer, more detailed menus.

Your stapled booklets can include 8–84 pages — this includes 4 cover pages (front cover, inside front cover, back cover and inside back cover). For example, an 8-page booklet = 4 cover pages + 4 inside pages. You can increase or decrease a stapled booklet’s page count in increments of 4: 12 pages, 16 pages, 20 pages, etc.

No, you’re not required to — you’ll just need to include blank pages in your print-ready PDF. But if you’d like to utilise all the space and add content to all 4 cover pages, you’re welcome to do that, too.

The cover paper for your stapled booklets will be laminated — they help protect booklets from wear and are a great way to show off your cover design. Our laminated covers are available in matte or glossy. You can select the same cover thickness as your internal pages, or go with a 300 gsm option for sturdier covers.

Sample booklets are not available, but you can order a single booklet. This is a great way to see how your printed booklet looks before you order a larger amount.
