Matte business cards have a smoother, non-reflective surface, sometimes described as silky or polished. They’re great for deep colours and have a refined feel. Glossy business cards have a shiny, light-catching finish that helps bright colours and photographs pop.

Yes. Both our premium and standard matte business cards are matte on both sides. The non-reflective finish has a smooth feel. Our glossy business cards, however, are only glossy on one side, allowing you to write on the uncoated reverse side if needed.

You can write on our matte cards, but different markers or pens are likely to give you different results.

Different paper stocks work best with different kinds of designs. Glossy paper is an especially good choice if your design features bright colours or photography – the way the light hits the paper helps colour and images really pop off the card. If your design uses less ink, or is predominantly white, you may want to consider another paper stock, as the shine may prove distracting.
