Frequently asked questions
It depends. If you're kicking off your wedding planning by sending out save the dates, you'll want to include the date and location of the wedding (even if the venue has yet to be booked) and your and your partner's names. You can also include a line or two in your save the date which notifies guests that a formal invitation will follow. For wedding invitations, we recommend including a request to attend, the couple's names, the location, the date and time and the reception details. Basically, all the details your guests will need to get to your wedding and celebrate your love.
For wedding invitations specifically, a few details are better left unsaid. We recommend leaving out mentions of wish list registries and pre or post-wedding events — this information is best shared by word of mouth. Also, if you're planning on having an adults-only celebration, it's best to communicate this subtly. One way is by only addressing your envelopes to the individuals who have been invited.
Wedding stationery includes all the various printed materials used in wedding planning and to share information about your big day — from invitations to save the date cards, thank you notes, programmes and more.
That's up to you! Whether you're looking to include florals, rustic borders, classic fonts or even a custom illustration of your venue, our wedding collection has plenty of design options for you to choose from. And if you already have an idea in mind, filter our personalised wedding cards by style, size or colour to find your favourite.
Not necessarily. While it's common to coordinate colour palettes and designs across save the dates, wedding invitations, thank you cards and more, there's no pressure to match everything. However, if you do want to create a coordinated look, you can easily extend your wedding invitation design to match all of your paper essentials. Here are a few helpful tips to consider when creating a matching wedding suite:
- Choose a theme and colour palette.
- Design the invitation as the focal point.
- Extend the design to other items like save the dates, RSVPs and thank you cards.
- Maintain consistency in fonts, colours and design elements.
Yes. Addressing your own wedding invitations by hand is a great way to add a personal touch that your invitees will appreciate. Just be sure that the writing is legible and all the necessary information (the recipient’s name and address) is included on the wedding card.
There are no rules about what wedding stationery you need for your big day — that depends on you and your significant other! However, we recommend a couple of different combinations:
- A classic wedding stationery suite including a save the date card, wedding invitation and RSVP or enclosure card. Also, wedding programmes and menus for guests to hold on the day of.
- A digital-friendly option that features a QR code on your physical wedding invitation, linking to your wedding website. With this option, your website can serve as a home for all your nuptial correspondence — think online RSVPs, gift registries, reception details, your punny wedding hashtag, you name it. If go this route, we recommend adding on a save the date card (or even one of our customisable save the date magnets to send ahead of your invite. Wedding programmes and menus are always good to have too.
As an addition to either of the above, we recommend including wedding thank you cards to show your guests just how much you appreciate them being a part of your special day. (A great way to show off those stunning wedding photos, too.)
Planning a stationery suite is one of the biggest items on many couples' wedding to-do lists. To ensure your suite reflects your style, communicates essential information to guests and complements your overall theme, we recommend following these steps:
Set a Budget: Determine how much you want to spend on your wedding stationery suite.
Establish a Timeline: Create a timeline for when you need to send out each piece of stationery and factor in time for design, printing and addressing.
Choose a Theme and Colour Scheme: Decide on a theme and colour palette that aligns with your wedding style and preferences.
Select Stationery Items: Decide which wedding stationery items you'll need, such as save the dates, invitations, RSVPs and more.
Choose a Design: Collaborate with one of our talented designers for a custom piece or choose a design from our collection of quality templates.
Personalise Your Design: Add all the details that make your suite undeniably yours — think your names, wedding date, venue details and any other relevant information.
When posting wedding stationery, you'll want to make sure all paper essentials are neatly packaged so that they arrive safely and look beautiful for your guests. For more information, check out these helpful tips:
Gather Materials: Collect your envelopes, tissue paper, ribbon and any other decorative elements you want to include.
Organise Stationery: Arrange your stationery suite items neatly, ensuring they're protected from bending or damage.
Add Protective Layers: Place tissue paper between delicate items to prevent scratching or smudging.
Send with Care: Using our custom envelopes and envelope seals, carefully package your stationery items. Or you can wrap your stationery bundle with tissue paper and secure it with a ribbon or a decorative band. Finish your package off with our return address labels or circle stamps for an extra-special touch to your post.
