Cautious consumers up and down the country will not be venturing back just yet and say they won\u2019t go back to pubs (50%) or hairdressers (41%) for at least a month after they reopen this weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The research by&nbsp;<strong>Vistaprint<\/strong>, reveals small businesses must do all they can to ease COVID anxiety to boost consumer confidence, as they&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/protect-eu.mimecast.com\/s\/xVE1CnOpEiKy5U99X_z?domain=vistaprint.co.uk\">help small businesses reopen<\/a>, manufacturing face masks and shields along with a host of marketing products and signage to keep customers informed.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Pubs and hairdressers<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But not everyone is willing to wait, 7% of those polled &#8211; equivalent to over three million adults in England &#8211; plan to be back in their local pub at the earliest possible opportunity, Saturday July 4th. A further four million plan to pick up a pint in the first week of their local reopening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That\u2019s a lot of pints &#8211; 56% of all adults say they will be using pubs and restaurants to catch-up with family and friends at some point, as an alternative to homes and gardens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Barbers and hairdressers are also in for a brisk reopening weekend as 7% said they\u2019d be getting their first haircut in over 100 days as soon as they are able. A further 14% plan to get their haircut within the first week, equivalent to over six million people.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cMillions of Brits are eager to return to their favourite small businesses and to support them after these difficult months in lockdown,\u201d says UK and Ireland Marketing Manager of Vistaprint Charlotte Holmes-Darby. \u201cIn this newly reopened world, it\u2019s natural that some customers still feel reluctant to visit their local pubs, restaurants and hairdressers. As a marketing partner to millions of small businesses, we\u2019re providing them with the tools and know-how to get back to business safely and inspire confidence in their customers as they reopen.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Shopping small on the rise<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Due to COVID-19, millions of people turned to their local retailers and this looks like a trend that is here to stay. In what will be welcome news for ailing high streets, 30% of English adults say their commitment to shopping local has increased. The trend is greatest in London where the figure rises to 40%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Nation tells government: Prioritise fitness<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following Prime Minister Boris Johnson\u2019s latest announcement of the easing of lockdown, many were left disappointed when some businesses remained on the \u2018closed\u2019 list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When asked which businesses the government should prioritise opening next, England responded empathically to the reopening of the fitness industry, with swimming pools and gyms topping the list.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\"><li>Swimming pools (24%)<\/li><li>Indoor gyms (20%)<\/li><li>Nail bars &amp; beauty salons (14%)<\/li><li>Spas (8%)<\/li><li>Indoors play areas, tattoo and piercing parlours, nightclubs and bowling alleys\/indoor skating rinks (7%)<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBritain has undergone a fitness revolution in recent decades and these figures show us the country is craving indoor exercise,\u201d continued Charlotte Holmes-Darby. \u201cAs with the hospitality trade though, the challenge will be proving to government that measures have been taken to ensure it is safe for people to visit and exercise again.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As small businesses reopen, Vistaprint is offering a range of customisable products to help them share vital health and safety information with employees and customers.&nbsp;Alongside this, the company launched a line of <a href=\"https:\/\/protect-eu.mimecast.com\/s\/2NWrCoyqGHBo4uzEJWq?domain=vistaprint.co.uk\/\">facemasks with a filter system<\/a>.
